Five for Friday 4/4/14

Pheww! It is Fridayyyyy...and we made it through the first leg of state testing here in NY. =]  We took it a bit easy this week considering testing and all....and had some fun doing a little spring cleaning and decorating.  Sooo, here are my Five err...Four for Friday with Doodle Bugs!

We are gearing up for Earth Day with our new spring door!  Check out the awesome truffala trees my students made!! They rock! =]  This door was a team effort between my Teaching Assistant, the kiddos, and myself.
You can get ready for Earth Day too.  Go to www.seussville.com to download
more of The Lorax resources like the Earth Day Pledge you see here!

I am all set up to do our poetry pattern scavenger hunt next week.  More to come on this activity next week...

I am SUPER excited about this new mentor Math book my team teacher picked up at the library for me.  It is called Math Curse by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith.  I can't wait to dig further into it this weekend and work it into my plans for next week.  I am thinking I will project this on the SMARTBoard for the kids and use some of these in leui of my typical "Problem of the Day".  Anyone else ever used this book in their classroom?  I'd love to hear your ideas...

And last, but not least, although this isn't about my own personal classroom happenings...I am going to give a shout out to Deb over at Crafting Connections.  She is currently running a giveaway on her blog for four Parts of Speech resources.  The resources include PowerPoints, craftivities, assessments, answer sheets, and interactive notebook pages.  Fun!  Be sure to head on over there to check it out.

Happy Weekend!

  1. A poetry scavenger hunt seems like a fun thing for the kids.
I've heard about the Math Curse but never done anything with it. It would be interesting to see how it goes for you. Greg Tang also has some of those problems in his stories. I tried to have my high kids do them last year, but they needed more guidance than I could give at the time.
    Have a good weekend.
